So this Sunday is the Oscars, now to most people it’s a time to look at celebrities on E! and talk about what they are wearing and who showed up with who. Not many though actually watch the entire telecast, I can count maybe a handful of people that I personally know that actually watch the Oscars. Each year I plan my day around watching the Oscars, I will cancel meetings, and  reschedule things so I can be at home to watch.   Now you may ask when did this start and why? Well simply put I love films, I…

Moth to Flame loves telling the stories of many local Austin startups. On the theme of our feature film, Funemployment, we are showcasing some inspirational companies that we have worked with! This week we are showcasing Dane’s Body Shop. Not only is this one of the best gyms in Austin, Texas,  but also one of Funemployment’s lead actors, Dunte Hector, is actually a coach at Dane’s Body Shop. Dane Krager, the founder of Dane’s Body Shop answers a few of our questions.   1. What is the startup story for Dane’s Body Shop? Dane’s Body Shop started in 2010 as a small-group…

Hey friends, fans, and new friends of Moth to Flame!   We are so excited to have reached 8K for our Funemployment kickstarter, which is a huge accomplishment. We hope to continue up with the momentum. We still have $17,000 to go but at least we are in the 10K and not the 20K mark anymore! Like we mentioned before, the success of this movie really relies on your help. Without the funding, we cannot finish the movie at all, at least not in a way that anyone would want to watch it.   So thank you from the bottom...

When we wrote Funemployment, team Moth to Flame had a specific audience in mind. We wanted to tell the story of startups. To be a part of a startup takes incredible courage and tenacity. Recently, startups have gained significant publicity due to successes from companies such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and more, but prior to their glorification, startups and small businesses have always been, in our opinion, the building blocks of the American economy.   Not only did we want to showcase startups, we wanted to showcase Austin, a unique place that we have come to love.   Never Give...

What is the Longhorn Startup Camp? Longhorn Startup Camp is a startup for startups. A bare bones startup incubator, LSC offers UT students an unprecedented opportunity to develop their ventures in a professional atmosphere. The 30,000 square feet of office space seemed infinite when the camp opened in January 2012. By the time the camp ended in December 2013, all offices were full and over 500 university community members had gained access. Those 500 Longhorns contributed to the growth of over 50 innovative startups, 10 of which raised money. Many more are still operating today in the woodwork of Austin’s...

After months of hard work, the cast & crew of Funemployment  finally got together for the epic wrap party to watch the debut of the trailer. In the spirit of Funemployment, we decided to host the wrap party at a local Austin co-working space, Chicon Collective. With a super bad ass projector, this was the first time I had seen the trailer on such a large screen. I was watching a real movie! Yes, I cried. Several times.     There was delicious home cooked foods (whoever brought the short ribs… I love you), desserts, and drinks. My friend, Daran Herrman…
